Podophyllum peltatum (berberidaceae)-- Also known as "mandrake", it blooms in the spring. Although its ripe fruit is listed in many books as being edible, the rest of this plant is highly toxic. A derivative of this plant is FDA approved for treatment of some types of cancer. (Photographed in WI)
