Lobelia kalmii (Campanulaceae) -- The scale of this photo is decieving. This is actually a very small plant - about 14 inches tall. The flowers are maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch across. It is related closely to "great lobelia", and distantly to the bellflowers. This was blooming on Labor day weekend on the north shore of Lake Michigan. (Photographed in MI)
