Hypericum perforatum (Guttiferae) -- This plant has been the subject of a lot of press recently. It can be used as an anti-depressant, but in large doses can also cause photodermatitis. The Rhodale guide lists it as "unsafe" - read Micheal Castelman's chapter on it in "The Healing Herbs" (see references) for futher information. St.-John's-wort can also be used as a dye. It blooms in summer. (Photographed in WI)
